Shillong: 26 April 2025:
In a spirit of deep reverence and solemn remembrance, the Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong, gathered to celebrate the Holy Eucharist in memory of our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis. The heartfelt liturgy, marked by prayer, reflection, and gratitude, was a moment of grace for the entire community.
The main celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Felix SDB from the Salesian Province of Trichy (who is also the past pupil of this institution), joined by the other priests of the college community. Together, they offered the Eucharist with devotion and love, thanking God for the life and witness of Pope Francis, a shepherd who led the Church with humility, mercy, and a heart close to the poor.
Prior to the Eucharistic celebration, a special Morning Prayer (Lauds) was offered for the repose of his soul. The community united in intercession, lifting their hearts to God in thanksgiving and petition for the eternal rest of this holy man.
At the foot of the altar, a portrait of Pope Francis was displayed as a mark of honour and love. The image stood as a gentle reminder of his radiant smile, tireless commitment to justice and peace, and unwavering faith in the Gospel of Christ.
The celebration was filled with moving reflections and shared thoughts on the inspiring life and legacy of Pope Francis. His saintly simplicity, pastoral zeal, and call to synodality were fondly remembered, encouraging all present to carry forward his vision of a Church that listens, accompanies, and serves.
As Sacred Heart Theological College pays homage to Pope Francis, we remain united with the Universal Church in prayer, entrusting his soul to the infinite mercy of God.
