Examinations and Evaluation
  • Normally all examinations are held during the examination session at the end of every semester.
  • Examinations of visiting professors from distant places or of one-credit courses may be held at the end of the course, given a reasonable period of time for study after the termination of classes.
  • Examinations in individual courses may be written, or viva, or in the form of a written assignment, or a combination of these. The viva will be of 15 minutes for courses of 2 credits or more, and of 10 minutes only for one-credit courses.
  • All written assignments and participatory activities by the students will be considered for the final evaluation with a percentage of the total marks being allotted to them.
  • Each professor may decide on the mode of examination in consultation with the President.
  • Unsuccessful examinations must be repeated at the beginning of the following semester as indicated in the Handbook and Calendar. In case of a second failure, the course of action will be decided by the academic council. An appropriate fee will be charged for each examination repeated.
  • For copying in examinations from another or from any kind of material brought along into the examination hall the sanction is that the concerned examination is declared invalid and the student is debarred from a repeat examination in the subject.
  • For plagiarism in papers / assignments / dissertations, recycling of old papers / assignments etc. the sanction is that the paper / assignment / dissertation is declared invalid. The next course of action will be decided by the Academic Council. In the event that plagiarism has been discovered only after the degree has been conferred, the degree itself will be withdrawn.
